Can I make a team request?
We do not accept any team request. This makes the goal to have fair and balanced team extremely difficult. On each team we try to balance teams based on talent, siblings, gender (in that order.) We will try to have each team balanced with a familiar face on each team. We also can not accommodate
Is NLS a competitive sports organization?
Yes and No. Depending on the sport and age group, game score is kept resulting in one team winning and the other losing. However, with our coaching program, we strictly enforce equal play. For basketball, there are substitutions every 5 minutes and for football each player plays every position. To become a coach with NLS, one has to ensure participant has fun and learns about the particular sport being played.
What do I need to bring to each game?
For every sport, each participant is responsible to provide
1. Water or sports drink
2. Mouthpiece (flag football)
3. Closed toe sport footwear
4. Team jersery is required for each game
Does NLS have a program to ensure safety of participants?
A safe program begins with planning. Next Level Way is the program used to communicate NLS expectations to coaches. Through this program, expectations for Next Level Sports volunteer coaches are communicated (Click here to view coaching expectations.) While accidents may happen, we plan for having zero incidents through closely monitoring games, communicating and demonstrating fair and safe play, and enforcing rules of game.
My child has never played before, how will be he/she fit in?
Most participants in the NLS are just beginning. Next Level is instructional and is designed to be inclusive. Our drills are set up to challenge the more skilled, and also give beginners confidence to continue improve and have fun.
